In "Bread Into Roses" heroine Susannah Farjeon moves from poverty and a brief glimpse of early life in China to life in a tinsel-covered world in wealthy New York society, to lost love and divorce, to quiet rural New England to establish roots to new love--and finding out her divorce was not legal. Susannah struggles to understand what a woman's life is supposed to include, and what values are the important ones to live by.
