San Francisco: ism press, 1993. Paperback. 367p., illus., wraps a tad shelfworn, spine slightly toned, ownership rubberstamp of the author on the title page, else in very good condition. Several page letter 8.5x11 inches inlaid, addressed to union activist and teacher, Ross Rieder from the author, signed in hand. Letter slightly edgeworn and toned, else in very good condition. Relates Murphy's adventures in the wheat fields, lumber camps, and on the high seas. Historical events include the 1919 Centralia massacre in Washington state; the Colorado coal miners' strike of 1927; and the 1931 strike by workers building the Boulder Dam.
