A first American Edition/First Printing that has some light fading to the edges of the boards, else Fine in a like dust-jacket; After a long and frustrating night of searching, Arthur and Merlin find themselves in a decrepit old ruin. As they try to make sense of their surroundings, they are disturbed by the sound of a baby's cry. They follow the sound to find a young woman, half-naked and hungry, with her baby in her arms. The woman introduces herself as Gwenhwyfar, and tells Arthur and Merlin that she and her family were forced out of their home by the Romans. She begs them to help her find somewhere to hide, and Arthur and Merlin agree. Gwenhwyfar leads them to a hidden chamber in the ruins, where they find a small amount of food and a bed for the baby. Arthur and Merlin spend the night with Gwenhwyfar and her family, and in the morning they leave them safe and sound.; 8vo; 174 pages .
