About This Item
Brian Epstein: The Man Who Made "The Beatles"-Gift inscription on the end page otherwise this is a tight and unmarked copy-" First off, Ray Coleman is not only a brilliant biographer, he covered the Beatles for many years and knew Brian Epstein quite well, so you get a very candid account of the man and why he was driven to successfully promote the career of (arguably) the greatest musical group in the history of Western Civilization. Other reviewers have found that Coleman's "proximity" to the Beatles may have lent itself to the creation of a "too friendly" biography, and I can understand how they might think this. But I've not found that to be the case in this book, as Coleman can be QUITE critical of the Beatles' manager at times, particularly when it comes to his lifestyle as well as his penchant for "living through his creation." To me, this book is a superbly-documented, candid & thoughtful account of one of the most enigmatic figures show business has ever seen. I consider it not only far more valuable than the purchase price but worth the time to read as well. Any true Beatle fans will find Coleman's account both fascinating and engrossing."
