About This Item
New York: The Living Theatre, 2007. Vintage program for the 2007 revival of the 1963 play at The Living Theatre, directed by Judith Malina. The Living Theatre revived the play to inaugurate its new permanent location on the Lower East Side in Manhattan on March 29, 2007.
The play premiered at The Living Theatre on May 13, 1963 and was the recipient of three Obie Awards. In 1963, Jonas Mekas filmed a performance of the play without the audience, after the theatre had closed, and was released in 1964.
A realistic, anti-authoritarian depiction of a US Marine Corps prison, based on playwright Kenneth H. Brown's experience being held in a brig for 30 days while serving with the Third Marines at Camp Fuji in the 1950s.
Side-stapled in illustrated card wrappers. Near Fine.
