Bright Eyes was the daughter of a French-Indian who in the mid-1800s became the last head chief of the Omahas. This conflict of identities shaped her life as profoundly as the clash between her people's age old culture and the white man's world. She knew the Indian ways well and through missionary school in the East she could manage against the best of the whites as she proved in fighting for Ponca rights in Washington to regain lands for them as spelled out in a treaty. A dramatic story of a courageous Indian girl and the injustices she exposed. A clean very presentable copy in a Brodart mylar jacket.
