The text is illustrated with four inserts, of eight pages each, of black-and-white photography; with numerous black-and-white drawings, house plans and line drawings throughout the book. Colour photographic paperback binding with white coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. Quoting News Statesman on the rear panel blurb " ... Her book is a synthesis of all the available evidence, from archaeological research in Britain, literary sources, and relevant discoveries aboard, into an extremely thorough description of life in Britain during the Roman occupation." Minor creasing of the book corners with rubbing of the edges and either side of the back strip. Light tanning of the text block edges and pages.
