1851 British Colonialism Commerce Military India Africa Illustrated Martin 13v

Robert Montgomery Martin was an Anglo-Irish author and civil servant who served as Colonial Treasurer of Hong Kong from 1844 to 1845. He was a founding member of the Statistical Society of London, the Colonial Society, and the East India Association. He is chiefly remembered for his work 'The Indian Empire' and 'History of British Colonies.' His book 'History of British Colonies' was meant as a complete history of all of Britain's colonial expansion to include the area, agriculture, commerce, governments, and militaries of colonies.

This rare, 19th-century first edition was published in 13 separate tomes.
