About This Item

London: George Routledge & Sons, Ltd. ,. Very Good+ with no dust jacket. 1915. Presumed First UK Edition. Hardcover. In the original blue decorated cloth with bright gilt titling to the spine and a handsome bright gilt panel of 'Warship at Sea' on the upper board. Slight 'pushing' to the head/tail of the spine from storage, but NO damage. The page fore edges have a few scattered marks ( patchy foxing - tan spots/lines) but overall this is a very good bright, tight, clean copy. No date but c. 1915/16 going on internal evidence (see the Appendix which lists Battleships, Submarines Armed Cruisers, etc, etc) . Internally the occasional patching to the page fore-edges has bled into the very edge of some pages, o/w the book is very clean with No Inscriptions or other marks. (xx) + 694pp including the Index. A full page tissue guarded full colour frontispiece (HMS 'Iron Duke') and 7 other colour plates, plus 289 b/w illustrations, many full page and smaller ones in the text. With a Preface and Appendix. An amazingly detailed book covering the history of the British Navy to but setting it in context with the first boats/ships, etc. A very attractive book, marred only by the edge foxing here and there. This book is overweight at nearly 1.5 kilos unpackaged and MAY require extra postage depending on your location for International Buyers Only. See Images. ; Thick 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
