About This Item
SIR HAROLD NICOLSON (1886-1968). Nicolson was a British writer and politician. TLS. 1pg. 8 x 10. November 8, 1948. Kensington, London. A typed letter signed “Harold Nicolson”. Nicolson responds to a Mr. Brockway, who had previously written to request quotations to include in his planned dictionary. “Dear Mr. Brockway, I was rather alarmed by your letter of October 19th inviting me to select quotations for your dictionary. I find that my more serious books do not lend themselves to quotation since they are concerned with analysis and narrative rather than with epigrams. I have, however, looked through some of my lighter books and give you a specimen herein. Yours sincerely, Harold Nicolson”. The letter is in very good condition with a central fold and a tiny tear in the upper edge.
