Charles Bronson was born into a loving but disciplined household in Luton,Bedfordshire in 1952.He has spent the last 26 years in jail for armed robbery,22 years of which have been in solitary confinement. Charlie is probably the most feared convict in the prison system. He does up to 3,000 press-ups a day and during a brief taste of freedom he won underworld acclaim as an unlicensed boxer.
He has suffered mob-handed beatings from prison officers but has fought back with hostage takings, spectacular fights and roof-top protests.A man of great insight,he is a talented artist with a sharp sense of humour, who has met - and confronted - some extraordinary characters on his journey through the prison system.
He is the six-time winner of the Koestler Award for prison art,for his brilliant, innovative and disturbing cartoons, many of which are reproduced in this book.
