About This Item

Cupples and Leon, 1949-01-01. Hardcover. Good+/Good+. Hardcover, 1949, Cupples and Leon Company, 212 pages. Not Ex Library. This appears to be a later printing of the #2 title in this six-title series. Good+, in a Good+ Dust Jacket. Orange cloth binding with black titles. Moderate soiling and shelf/edge wear - corners bumped. Interior pages are clean and crisp with no prior owner marks. Some soiling and foxing to edges of text block. Good+ DJ is original and unclipped ($1.25) - with moderate shelf/edge wear and dust soiling. Image shows an adult clown and two young girls dressed as clowns, one of whom is having lipstick applied by the adult clown. There are several chips and tears to the tail and head of the DJ spine, along the bottom of the front cover, and at the flap folds. There is light scribbling near the price on the front interior flap. DJ is now protected in mylar. Despite past handling, the colors of the front panel remain vibrant. The story involves a stolen wallet containing funds for a camping trip. As the adventure progresses, Veve and Connie accidentally get locked inside a circus boxcar and travel hundreds of miles on a train before they are discovered. While separated from their group, the girls help capture the wallet thief. LOC SSS-08
