First edition. 4to; xi, [1], 144pp; pictorial paper over board with the title and author on the front cover and spine; black and white illustrations throughout the text; gift inscription to fly leaf dated "Xmas 1895"; chipping to cover paper, bumping to cover corners with paper loss, gutter and spine chipped, age toning of cover paper, small stain to bottom edge pages, a few light finger smudges; very good minus. Overstreet 375. The fifth book in the Brownie series, this one chronicles the travels of the Brownies through 14 states. Charming illustrations of the mischievous Brownies in classic scenes within the states. This book lacking its dust jacket, cover paper fragile, but binding holding and internally clean with the exception of a few finger smudges. Palmer Cox was the first cartoonist to also merchandise his creations to an extent not seen before. He also wrote for periodicals and newspapers, including a comic series.
