London, printed for William Crooke, at the Green Dragon without Temple-bar, 1684.. Wherein are contained more especially, the unparalleled exploits of Sir Henry Morgan, our English Jamaican hero, who sacked Puerto Velo, burnt Panama, &c. Written originally in Dutch by John Esquemeling, one of the bucaniers, who was present at those tragedies; and thence translated into Spanish by Alonso de Bonne-maison, Doctor of Physick, and practitioner at Amsterdam. Now faithfully rendred into English. SECOND EDITION IN THREE PARTS 1684. Corrected and inlarged with two additional Relations, viz. the one Captain Cook and the other of Captain Sharp. A 4th Part was published a year later in 1685 which is not present with this copy. Small 4to, approximately 210 x 160 mm, 8¼ x 6¼ inches, 4 engraved portraits of pirates, including frontispiece, 1 folding map, 4 engraved plates, 2 folding and 3 text illustrations, pages: [12], Part 1, 1-55 (paging irregular, pages 50 & 51 numbered 42 & 43 and pages 54 & 55, 46 & 47), Part 2, 1-80, Part 3,1-84, followed by [12] The Table. Rebound at sometime in quarter calf over marbled boards, gilt lettered label between raised bands to spine, modern cream endpapers, bookplate to first pastedown (Hayhurst). Frontispiece professionally laid down on old paper, small pale blue stain affecting 1 portrait (see attached image), small pale stain affecting the upper corners of pages 69 to end of Part 3, pale age browning and spotting in varying degrees throughout, small repair to 2 outer margins, not affecting text, pale stains to many margins, tips of outer corners trimmed off 2 folding plates, not affecting images, plates mostly clean and bright, a good copy.
