London: Matthew Iley. Good with no dust jacket. 1825. First Edition. Hardcover. Xvi, 17-208 pp. With index and a vocabulary "of all the words that occur in the Eclogues". Small quarto in what appears to be original 3/4 leather with 5 raised bands to the spine, gilt in the compartments, brown marbled boards with matching endpapers. Normal small wear to the boards, interior has an owner name that looks early, there is some foxing throughout but otherwise clean and unmarked. Latin text at the top with notes and helps underneath. A very attractive nearly-200 year old translation of Virgil's Bucolics with lots of critical help. Edwards was a classicist who wrote the Eton Latin Grammar as well as works on Sophocles and Euripides. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 208 pages .
