One of the early and important Pattern Books, and the author's first in that genre. This is the fifth: preceded by The American Builder; The Rudiments of Architecture; The Practical House Carpenter and The Practice of Architecture -- with this particular work being first published in 1839. A Dictionary of Technical Terms Used by Architects and Artificers. KARPEL B99. "....consists for the most part of the Greek orders and "Grecian" exterior and interior details." HITCHCOCK 108. "With the 1843 title. This is the first posthumous issue of the work, as the preceding probably came out before Benjamin's death in that year." Interior contents fresh, clean and bright.
