The numerous myths, iconological associations, traditions and types of objects reveal the symbolic importance of the bull in the ancient Mediterranean.

The Bull in the Mediterranean World" looks at the male symbolic universe of the ancient cultures around Mare Nostrum - Our Sea - amongst whom the bull acquired a number of different meanings and became a cult object in secular and religious rituals.
