First edition/first printing in about Fine condition with slight fading to edges in alike, slightly toned dust-jacket. From the collection of Betty Anderson, legendary art director of publisher Knopf in the late 20th century, as evidenced by her (small and unobtrusive) inventory number; In Bullet Park, John Cheever immerses the reader in the world of a small New England town in the 1950s. The townspeople are a tight-knit community and their lives revolve around the local bullet park. Teenaged Joe, the son of the town's only grocery store owner, is the town's favorite son. Joe is an excellent shot and the townspeople are constantly in awe of his skills. When Joe's father dies, Joe is forced to take over the store. In order to make ends meet, Joe begins to offer shooting lessons to the townspeople. As the town comes to rely on Joe's shooting skills, they begin to unravel the secrets of Bullet Park.; 8vo .
