About This Item

St. Cloud, MN: North Star Press of St. Cloud, 2002 North Star Press of St. Cloud, St. Cloud, MN. 2002. Stated 10th Printing. Softcover/Trade Wraps. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: Fine. No DJ. Pictorial card stock wraps. Wraps are not bent or folded; spine is not creased or split; text is secure in binding.188 pp 8vo. Burma-Shave grew out of the ashes of a failing Burma-Vita company with the discovery of a very good brushless shaving lather/cream. With sales languishing, the company came up with an advertising plan using six signs along the roadside (1925). The catchy rhymes caught the imagination of the new car driving population and the company grew until 1955 with the advent of the superhighways and larger signs and a change in the American population. This book is the history all the rhymes that were on the roadsides. A clean pristine copy.
