About This Item

New York: Liveright, 1933. First Edition. First Edition. Boldly INSCRIBED by the author opposite the title page: "Best wishes of / A. Merritt."

Basis for the 1936 film, "The Devil Doll," directed by Tod Browning, written for the screen by Garrett Fort, Guy Endore and Erich von Stroheim, and starring Lionel Barrymore and Maureen O'Sullivan.

Fine in a strong Very Good plus, price-clipped example of the fragile jacket. Jacket is lightly faded at the lower spine panel, with a few tiny chips at the corners, else quite nice.

Barron 3-146. Bleiler 1160. Bleiler (1978) US. Clareson 552. Reginald 10058. Survey of Modern Fantasy Literature I US. In 333.
