One of an unknown but presumably microscopic number of copies of the self-published first edition of this pocket-sized poetic collection by a key figure in San Francisco's North Beach from the Beat era until his death a few years after this was issued. Just about as new (minor marks on cover appear to be printing artifact).

Beautiful as-new copy of the fourth issue of this groundbreaking literary and Kabbalistic magazine edited by David Meltzer. Includes Image of the Wall by Wallace Berman, a lengthy 1964 letter from Lenny Bruce to a judge, a number of Kabbalistic pieces from traditional authorities, and other material from writers associated with the Semina scene. Unmarked copy, as new.

Rare second issue of this important little magazine from underground press editor John Bryan. A fascinating juncture between the Beat Generation and the nascent hippie movement. Includes Beat writers, proto-psychedelicists (including a Psychedelic Cookbook section), and Charles Bukowski. Original fabric tape to spine. Unmarked copy, a bit of outer rubbing and toning, faint storage smell.

Martin Secker, London, 1920. Book. Very Good. Hardcover. 1st Edition. First Edition (first printing). 8vo. 81pp. 'Cobble-stone' decorated paper-covered boards with a paper spine label. A strip of light partial browned in the free endpapers and some spotting throughout. A tiny dealer plate to the front pastedown. A nice bright copy in the uncommon dust wrapper, slightly dust marked and tanned, and chipped at the spine panel ends with a little loss. Graves' fifth book, forty-six poems, dedicated to his wife Nancy Nicholson. 1,000 copies were printed. Higginson A5.

London: Edward Moxon, 1839 only 2 volumes of 4, original blind embossed cloth with gilt titled spines, light bumping to edges, vol 4 has splitting to the upper joint, both volumes have a tidy and faint name stamp to the title pages, "Walter Mantell" in an oval, (probably Walter Baldock Durrant Mantell), vol 3 small area discoloured to front hinge, as issued with pale yellow endpapers, untrimmed top edge, head of spines are slightly chipped with minimal loss, vol3; viii 314+2pp vol4; viii 361+3pp, First Collected Edition, and the first with Mary Shelley's notes. First Edition. Original Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6? - 7? tall.

Includes Errata slip tipped in following Contents. Former owner's name on front fixed endpaper: A.E. Phillips. Dedicated to Ebenezer Bailey, Esq. of Boston. The author, George Hill (1796-1871) graduated from Yale in 1816 and taught mathematics for the Navy beginning in 1827. His experience in the Mediterranean with the Navy inspired his poem The Ruins of Athens, which was published anonymously in 1831. This is the first appearance of the other poems in this volume. Scarce. In Good- Condition: cover is soiled with several small ink spots; ends of spine and corners rubbed; ends of spine fraying; endpapers are discolored; foxing throughout; a few leaves are partially detached but volume is complete.
