About This Item

Toronto: Random House, 1987. First Canadian Edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Near Fine. 8vo, offwhite cloth with black lettering on spine, archival mylar-protected pictorial dust jacket (unclipped) with painting of Papillon by Michael Halliwell, 202 pages. Marion Quednau (born 1952) is a Canadian author, poet and children's writer. Her novel, The Butterfly Chair, won the 1987 Books in Canada First Novel Award. This emotionally rich novel explores the life of a child raised in an abusive home; her mature efforts at a kind of dreamy Jungian therapy while sitting in "a butterfly chair," which contributes to her understanding of love as "a measure of both forgiveness and blame." SUPERIOR CONDITION overall: a clean and bright unclipped jacket with some rubbing to its spine; in cloth with a slight bruise to its upper right corner also ruffling the dj.
