A colorful, attractive book in very good condition, bound in a handsome shade of blue. The dust jacket is present but has a vertical tear on the front cover panel, about an inch long. Bibliographical point: Rice's last name was actually Talbot Rice, as was his parents'. Talbot-Rice fell in love with all things Byzantine while a student at Oxford, where he was a friend of Evelyn Waugh. He married the Russian émigré Tamara, also an expert on Central Asia. $10.00
