Contemporary full red straight-grained morocco, spine with raised bands and lettered in gilt, sides bordered with double gilt fillet. Text in Latin. Engraved portrait frontispiece, additional title, dedication portrait, 6 folding maps and 78 full page plates of which 56 are double page. A magnificent copy. "The most sumptuous classical work which this country has produced" (Lowndes, 344), and "one of the finest books to emerge in early eighteenth-century British publishing" (McKitterick, 145).
