A scarce western novel set up for a play that begins around the time of Black Friday and the Panic of 1873, moves on to life on the plains of Colorado and New Mexico, followed by trailing the Indians with Custer in the Dakotas as well as the massacre that followed, and ending with life at home on a ranch along the Cache La Poudre River.
