Cal Ink Newspaper Colors

[Berkeley, California]: The California Ink Company, Inc. 28.5 x 21.5 cm. Undated, but presumed c. 1960. Color illustrated paper covered boards with metal ring binding; Catalog Number 5710. Light rubbing and some mild scuffing to boards, with some light wear to corners. Small 13 x 20 mm piece of white tape on front cover. Some mild freckled foxing on interior boards, with some age toning to samples. All removable "Tear-Off Swatches" present with the exception of Cal Ink M704, which just has one swatch remaining which is mounted onto the board. Founded in Los Angeles in 1891 as a subsidiary of Union Oil Company, the California Ink Company sold to E.L Heuter and moved to West Berkeley between 1900 and 1903. This catalog is made of four boards bound with metal rings. The first two boards have a progression of standard colors and intermix colors, bound at the head with metal rings, and protected by a clear plastic sheet. The second two boards have 'handy "Tear-off Swatches' in the form of small sheets of paper bound as sixty-one small pads of paper printed with numbered sample colors. An exceptionally rare item from one of the world's largest producers of ink, there are no recorded copies in OCLC or WorldCat. . Spiral Bound. Very Good.
