Sacramento: State Printing Office of California for Charles Forrest Curry, Secretary of State, 1909. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good +. Stout 12mo. Pp. 969. With many plates of photo portraits, historical vignettes, color maps (one depicting railroad districts of California), tables, charts, etc. Index. Bound in bright blue cloth with gilt lettering stamped on front cover and spine, rear cover with blindstamped state seal. Slight wear to edges of cloth, else Fine. A lavish compendium of information about California at the time, with a heavy emphasis on the history of Native Americans in the region, early exploration and its history as a Spanish colony, a Republic and state. Includes photos of contemporary office holders, and then some. The weight of the book will require additional postage. We charge for postage only, with no surcharge for shipping and handling.
