Introduction by Herbert Ingram Priestley. Letter from Dr. John Forbes (the author's brother) to the printer, preceding Alexander's dedication. Facsimile of Alexander Forbes' signature, preceding Introduction. Ten illustrations, including frontis. Large folding map of California at end of work.
