San Francisco: The Book Club of California, 1971. First Thus. Cloth. Fine/Custom Clear Mylar. 86 pp. Adapted for young adults. Prospectus laid in. Edited and with an introduction by Ferol Egan. Illustrated. Margin decorations. Many unopened pages. 5" x 7". Brown cloth with gilt cover and spine titling. Designed and printed by Lawton and Alfred Kennedy. Translation by Anthony Knight of the 1849 first edition which was in German. The subtitle tells it all. The purpose of the book was to dissuade young German boys from traveling to the gold fields.
