About This Item

New York: E. P. Dutton & Co, 1917. First edition. Cloth over boards. Duodecimo. xiv, 141 pages. Very good in a very good dust jacket. Some browning to endpapers from dust jacket flaps, along with some light browning to textblock edges. Jacket has minor extremity rubs and a couple of tiny chips at head of spine.. An indictment of what the author believed was America's woeful unpreparedness for World War I, followed by his solution--a program of Universal Military Training. Well documented, with a brief bibliography. Col. Jennings C. Wise was a graduate of Virginia Military Institute and author of "The Long Arm of Lee," etc. Foreword by Maj. Gen. Leonard Wood.
