London: Burns and Lambert, 1855. Book. Near Fine. Hardcover. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. The first edition, first impression, with frontispiece, decorative title-page, dedication page "To H. W. W." , erratum note, but no Postscript Edgbaston 1856 [a later printing of this edition was issued with both the original author's "Advertisement" dated 1855, and a subsequent entry dated at Edgbaston, February 8, 1856 followed by the erratum notice. [frontis.]vi,296+4[cat.]+34[cat.]pp. Original publisher's decorative stamped cloth hard covers, with titling to spine. Professionally rebacked, preserving most of the original back-strip. Spine titling is legible as stamped, but the gilt is lost. Moderate bumping and soiling; edges toned. Old owner's name-stamp inside front cover. Otherwise clean, tight and unmarked. Very neat -- a sound and handsome copy..
