A presentation copy, inscribed by the author at the head of the half-title. A subsequent owner presented this volume to the University College of North Wales, who added an inkstamp to the title page and their bookplate to the front pastedown, this last now partially obscured by a second blank pasted slip. 8vo. x, 264pp + 32pp publisher's advertisements and index. Green cloth lettered in gold at the spine and with a double blind-stamped border to the upper and lower boards. Backstrip ends bruised and with a tiny enclosed tear to the cloth. Some spotting and browning to several preliminary and concluding leaves. A two-page preface by the author precedes thirty-five poems and thirteen essays, mostly concerning Wales and the Welsh, and including his lengthy fifty-six stanza poem read at the National Eisteddfod at Llangollen in 1858..
