A nice edition in Very Good condition, little rubbing to edge, soiling to the front end paper; In 1942, the Pacific War raged as Japan and America battled for control of the islands of the Pacific. In the Solomon Islands, the Japanese were pushing the Americans back. General Douglas MacArthur, Commander-in-Chief of the Allied forces in the Pacific, was desperate for a victory. He turned to the British, who had been fighting in the Solomon Islands for years, for help. The British sent in a large force of soldiers and sailors, and the Americans gave them support. The British and Americans fought together, and soon they had pushed the Japanese back to their own island. This victory made history.; B & W Illustrations; 208 pages .
