About This Item
New York: Dell Publishing, 1970. Paperback. Good. 8vo - over 7?" - 9?" tall. Vintage Trade Paperback in Good Condition. A collection of Norman Mailer's short writings from 1960 to publication, presenting, among other pieces, his brilliant and devastating analysis of United States policy in Vietnam and its relation to the character of Lyndon B. Johnson; his astute comments on his contemporaries--William Styron, Mary McCarthy, James Baldwin, Joseph Heller, James Jones, and William Burroughs; his views on sexual experience in America; and other topics as well. Norman Mailer is acknowledged as one of the most important writers in America. He is probably best known for his novels, from his best-selling 1948 war novel, "The Naked and the Dead," and his final work in 2007, "The Castle In The Forest," but many think he was at his best in his non-fiction writings, such as in the essays in this collection. The book is clean, with the front lower corner scuffed-looks a little 'chewed'. Former owner name on inside of front cover. Pages quite clean and unmarked, lightly toned. 397 pages. 8" x 5.25". 1970, Dell Publishing, NY
