Boston, 1863. 375pp. plus advertisements. Original cloth. Spine sunned, spine ends frayed. Internally clean. Very good. The author's account of his travels in Oregon and Washington in 1853, during which he spent much time among the Indians of the Northwest. His narrative is told with considerable humor, and contains a partial vocabulary of the Chinook Jargon. He returned by way of Panama and provides an account of his crossing there. HOWES W584.
