"This, the long-awaited collection of Edith Sitwell's poems from 1917-1949, will stand as one of the few major books of poetry of the twentieth century. From the exciting early poetry of strange rhythm and beauty (including the complete FACADE) to the later poems of splendid sweeping color, Miss Sitwell's imagery, music, and poetic discipline are unrivaled. Some of the poems have never before been published either here or abroad. The author has written a long and brilliant Introduction which confirms the sensibility and care which have gone into her work." from the DJ flap..
