About This Item
n.p. (Aliso Viejo), n.p. (James Cahill Publishing), n.d. (1998), first edition, first printing.. Hardcover, issued without dust jacket, but with publisher's slipcase, there were supposed to be three editions of this book, a paperbound edition which never materialized, a signed/numbered limited edition of 174 copies, and a lettered edition of 26 copies, however, the publisher (Cahill) gave some copies with an unfilled limitation page as payment to Ernie Bulow for lining up Navajo artist Ernest Franklin to illustrate the book (although Franklin is not credited), Bulow had these copies bound with a Navajo-like designed cloth with leather spine and slipcase that also includes an original watercolor illustration Signed by Franklin, it shows a beautiful canyon scene in full color with a lone rider, this is No. 10 of 10 "Artists Copies Created by/Special Permission of the Author," Signed by both Hillerman and Franklin. Slight spine lean, else fine.
