About This Item

70 x 89 mm.

Quite a strong impression on good quality paper. A reverse, pirated version of Lieure 390. One of the 24 plates from the series Balli di Sfessania; the original background with additional figures, a house and tree are not represented in the present version.

An important figure in the development of the old master print, Callot executed more than 1,400 etchings chronicling early 17th century life featuring an array of characters including soldiers, clowns, drunkards, Gypsies, and beggars as well as subjects depicting court life.
