Cloth split along entire length of front joint and along most of rear joint. Chips and splitting to cloth along edges of boards. Lacking the portrait frontispiece. Text complete. A rough reading copy. Contemporary owner's signature on title page: "Lt. Col. Wynne Auby[?] Royal Hussars". The signature is cropped a little along the upper edge of the leaf. ; xviii, 384 pages + 1 plate + "Directions to the Binder" slip. Lacking the frontispiece. Early binding of green cloth boards with gilt lettering and rule on spine. Page dimensions: 210 x 134mm. "The great events of which Spain has, for the last three years, been the theatre, rivet the attention of Europe to the heroic struggle of legitimacy, calm in its strength, against a furious and a dastardly usurpation." - the opening sentence of the Preface. ; 8vo .
