About This Item

Weidenfeld & Nicolson, London, 1954. Reprint. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Good. Illustrator: Robin Jaques. introduction by Isla Barea. Black-and-white illustrated frontispiece, by Robin Jaques. Within the text there are another six black-and-white illustrations by the same illustrator. Purple coloured boards with black insert on the spine with gilt writing. Purple coloured tint to the top text edge. Bumping to the head and to the heel of the spine and there is shelfwear to both the top and bottom book edges. Very minor rubbing to the book edges and browning to the endpapers. The internal pages have become slightly tanned. Between pages 38 and 39 the spine has split and underlying webbing can be seen, this has no effect on the intrinsic soundness of the binding and all pages are tight. Illustrated dust wrapper, same illustration as for frontispiece, with purple coloured background and white writing on the front panel and black on the spine. The dust wrapper is rubbed, faded and in places grubby. Rubbing to the dust wrapper corners. Chipping, with loss to the top dust wrapper edge and is a little chipping to the lower dust wrapper edge, particularly the spine area. Browning has occurred to the top one third of the dust wrapper and to the spine, commensurate with sun damage. Clipping of the dust wrapper, front fold over, lower right-hand corner. A novel, that was based on Casanova's own memoirs, dealing with the ageing ruoues' pursuit and eventual winning of an old lover's niece and the consequences of same. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 130 pages,. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Illustrator: Robin Jaques. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 500 grams. Category: Fiction; Fiction -- Historical; Illustration; Inventory No: 0103576. .
