Book #1 in the YA series featuring intrepid young sleuth, Barclay "Brains" Benton & his friend Jimmy "Operative Three" Carson, who form an International Detective Agency. Characters originally created by Charles Spain Verral, who used the pseudonym George Wyatt in every book after this first one. A First Whitman Edition from 1960, in188 pages, illustrated throughout by Hamilton Greene. Hardcover small 8vo has decorative paper over boards & is in only Fair condition: basically a place holder or reading copy. Generally quite clean, binding straight & strong, both hinges intact. Pages moderately tanned, commensurate with age, heavier around edges, but completely unmarked. Heavy rubbing to all extremities with some chips & paper loss at both ends of spine.
