About This Item

London: Macmillan, 2006. First Edition. Hardcover. Very good/Very good. Presentation copy, inscribed by Jeffrey Archer to Eric Idle on the title page. The author's fifth collection of short stories, including some inspired by the two years Archer spent in prison for perjury and perverting the course of justice. Illustrated with colorful drawings by Ronald Searle. Royal octavo. Original purple cloth binding, with silver titles. Light bumping to the extremities, with some negligible wear to the dust jacket; else very good or better.

From the library of revered English actor, comedian, musician, and writer Eric Idle, accompanied by a letter of provenance. Idle (b.1943) is a founding member of the British comedy troupe Monty Python, as well as the parody rock group The Rutles, and is the writer of the music and lyrics for the hit Broadway musical Spamalot.

In a lengthy interview with The Guardian published in 2022, Idle recalled a recent dinner with the best-selling author: "I like Jeffrey. He's very funny; a wonderful gossip.
