New York: Macmillan, 1930. 1st ed. Hardcover. Near fine. Ward, Lynd. 1st ptg., square 8vo, full red cloth with black titling. Newbery winner for 1931, illustrated by Lynd Ward. A hint of wear to tips, else fine in solid dj with a few closed tears, some toning around the borders and all flaps obliquely clipped, no previous owner's marks.
Synopsis
The Cat Who Went to Heaven is a 1930 novel by Elizabeth Coatsworth that won the Newbery Medal for excellence in American children's literature in 1931. It was based on an old Buddhist folk tale, and is a highly symbolic work dealing with the concepts of Buddhism and the evils of material gain.
