Paperback octavo, very good condition, colour photos centre spread, minor edgewear. 271 pp. Gynaecologist Catherine Hamlin left Australia in 1959 to establish a midwifery school in Ethiopia. Over 40 years later Catherine is still there. She dedicated her life to women suffering the catastrophic effects of obstructed labour. She set up the Fistula Hospital in 1975 - a major teaching institution for surgeons from Ethiopia and the developing world. This companion volume to "The Hospital by the River" tells the extraordinary stories of many of her patients. Author: John Little.
