Dallas; (1942): Banks, Upshaw. Octavo. 376p. Significant material on the great ranches in Texas. Photographs by Erwin E. Smith and others. The chapter on "protection men" tells the story of those who enforcers who were enemies of the cattle thieves. They generally didn't like to kill the rustlers but it went with the job. Much firsthand information on the Matador Land and Cattle Company and assistance from J. Frank Dobie. Bound in brown pictorial cloth depicting a cowhand on horse over seeing the cattle in black, lettering in black, previous owner's name, minor bumping to two corners, some spots of black to upper board.
