About This Item

London: New English Library, 1981. 1st Edition . Soft cover. Fine. First new edition thus, published in December 1981. Reprint of the books originally published in 1964 by Souvenir Press and in paperback by NEL in 1964. A Fine copy of an uncommon look at the early days of the Beatles written by the man who discovered and first managed them before his untimely and tragic death. This is a bright, clean copy that appears to be unread. There is a diagonal crease to the bottom right corner of the front cover and also minor, barely distinguishable creasing to the bottom of the back cover. The pages have some age toning but this is overall a lovely copy.

Synopsis

A Cellarful of Noise is the title of Brian Epstein's 1964 autobiography. Some allege that Derek Taylor was the ghostwriter of the book, which describes the early days of The Beatles, whom Epstein managed. John Lennon was quoted as saying that the book should be titled "A Cellarful of Boys" in reference to Epstein's homosexuality. Before this, Brian asked Lennon what he thought the book should be called and Lennon suggested Queer Jew.
