About This Item

Moffat: Cameron & Hollis, 2002. 192pp with 34 colour and 3 monochrome plates, 152 colour and 36 monochrome illustrations. Cloth 29.5X27cms. ISBN: 0906506204. Richards (1903-1971) was greatly influenced by the work of Picasso and Max Ernst and was one of the first British artists to experiment with relief and collage constructions. A brief foray into Surrealism was followed by a move towards a lyrical informal abstraction, indebted to the music of Debussy. This catalogue, published to accompany the major exhibition of Richard's work, investigates his life, methods and sources of inspiration. Text in English.
