London: G Hawkins, 1735. First Edition . Hardcover. Very Good. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall. VG, 1st ed, 1735. In modern dark brown quarter leather with brown cloth, some gilt tooling. Spine has raised bands, gilt tooling, title in gilt to maroon leather label. Internally, new grey endpapers, paper repairs to fep, blank pages are a little soiled, title page has ink name of Wm Vaughn, May 13, 1735 to head (Sir William Vaughn of Voyle, Merioneth, 1st high Sheriff of Brecknockshire in 1735, brother of Robert Vaughn of Hengwrt), [12], 106 pp, [1] errata, lacks frontis, text block edges uncut. Printed by William Bowyer; his records show 750 copies printed. (278*210 mm). A nice copy of an important and much copied poem. (ESTC T30391. Somervile [Somerville], poet, whose major poem was The Chace, published in 1735 and dedicated to Frederick, prince of Wales. In four books of blank verse he conveyed the excitement and dangers of the chase as well as its place in history. Somervile was 50 before he published any of his work! and this was his best.

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS You may request to cancel a book order or return a book within 14 days of receipt of the book. Item not as described: The condition of the book does not match the description on Madoc Books. Incorrect item delivered: The title, cover or edition of the book is different than the title on the order. Item not received: The estimated delivery date has passed and the book has still not arrived. To cancel a book order or return a book simply contact Madoc with your order confirmation details and to obtain the return address.

DELIVERY DETAILS We ship all of our orders via Royal Mail. Orders are usually shipped within 2 or 3 business days. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized or a multiple in books we will contact you to let you know that extra shipping is required. Insurance costs are usually dictated by the shippers, should they be higher than normal, then we will contact you for your acceptance.
