The text is illustrated with 88 sepia toned photographs taken by George Aspinall, before and during his captivity by the Japanese during World War II, maps and facsimiles of contemporary documents. Bright blue boards with white writing on the spine. Photographic dust wrapper, showing "Detail of Keppel Harbour The Morning after the Fall of Singapore", with blue and brown writing on the front panel and brown on the spine. The unique visual diary of a private soldier before and during capture by the Japanese during World War II. Changi and the Thai-Burma railway are highlighted. apart from slight ruffling of the top edge of the dust jacket and a tiny bit of discolouration of the inside edge of the rear panel top edge there is no damage to describe, the book itself is clean and free of annotations.
