Collection of 24 traditional French songs & rhymes sung by & to children c. 1900 (no date in book), arranged by J. B. Weckerlin, with charming watercolor illustrations by M. B. de Monvel throughout the 48 pages. Oblong hardcover has decorative red cloth-covered boards, embossed lettering in black & gilt to front cover. Condition is Fair: both hinges are cracked, but the stitched text block is holding strong. Pages are significantly tanned, heaviest around edges, but still completely supple. Random spots & light soil from handling, else unmarked. No DJ, very likely never issued with one. Spine is in delicate condition, with cover slightly detatched from binding. Beautiful color illustrations by M.B. de Monvel, but some images appear to have been cut out, and on page 22, the music notes are scraped away. Mild soiling to spine with some stains to cover, with endpapers darkened.
